Associate in Media Ministry
The Media Ministry Degree is designed to equip students with a range of technical
skills and knowledge so they will be prepared to use various forms of media more
effectively. Students will acquire an understanding of mass media and develop technical
skills to design visual and print media. Our students will study in a biblically
based environment to help them develop a solid Christian worldview. Experience will
be gained through hands-on involvement with the worldwide media ministry of Breakthrough
and World Harvest Church.
Students will be equipped in the following areas:
- Demonstrating interpersonal communication and writing skills that reveal Christian
values;
- Communicating the Gospel effectively through the mass media;
- Relating to people with diverse cultural backgrounds;
- Understanding the importance of mass media in today’s world;
- Making correct moral and ethical decisions within any context;
- Utilizing mass media to fulfill the Great Commission;
- Mass communication theory;
- Communications in a global environment;
- Writing for the mass media;
- Camera use–photography and video;
- Video layout, design and editing;
- Web design.
LEARNING OUTCOMES FOR MEDIA MINISTRY
Upon satisfactory completion of the Media Ministry Program, the graduate should
be able to:
- Demonstrate effective communication with an increasingly multicultural population
both nationally and internationally;
- Apply solid theoretical and practical principles of the persuasion process in evangelism;
- Understand and recognize the Holy Spirit’s involvement and influence in the
communication of the Gospel and of ministry in general;
- Make practical application of principles of communication in interpersonal, small
group, and organizational contexts;
- Use mixes of media to accomplish ministry goals in church, missions, and evangelism
contexts;
- Adapt the dramatic format to diverse ministry situations presented by the church
and para-church organizations.
